This year our group has been working hard at raising the money we are required to raise in order to ride in the Police Unity Tour. In doing this, we contact many companies to see if they would be willing to donate financially to our cause. And I'd say 90% of those companies come back with "Sorry, but we cannot help you this year", or "Your cause does not fit within our companies charity profile". Our group understands how the economy is and expects a lot of this without any heartache.
But one of those companies I contacted this year was Old Town Bicycle out of Tacoma, Gig Harbor, and Olympia, WA. When I contacted them, they were sorry that they would not be able to donate financially to us. But instead of leaving it at that, Mr. Keating from OTB said he would try his best to get us supplies we could use before and during the ride. And that he would put information on his website to try to help us raise money. I said thanks and kept in touch.
Today I was asked to stop by their store in Tacoma and pick up what he was able to get from his suppliers as donations for our ride. I was surprised to find two big boxes full of what you see in these pictures.
On top of that, OTB has offered to have our bicycles "Tuned Up" for free before we ship them to the East Coast for the Police Unity Tour.
Our team cannot thank the group from Old Town Bicycle, and especially Dmitri Keating, enough for what they have done to help get us going, and keep going during the ride.
